Simply Instagram

The Simply Instagram plugin display your Instagram photos in three Endpoints that Instagram offers through shortcode for Post and Page or using Widget.

This plugin requires your Instagram ID and Access Token. Major update on version 1.1 is the on page Instagram Authorization. After activating the plugin, go to Settings -> Simply Instagram then login to your Instagram account and authorize this plugin to access your Instagram data. If you authorize Simply Instagram, it will retrieve your ID and Access Token.

This plugin is using prettyPhoto and Masonry.

Features:

Shortcode Documentation( for guidelines only since v1.2.3 has shortcode generator ready in admin settings ):

  1. Endpoints – Main attributes. Short code will never work with this attribute.
    • Users – This endpoint is used to access your Basic Information.
    • Media – A global endpoint. It will retrieve media API response.
  2. Type – Types of which endpoint supports. It must corresponds with endpoints in order to work.
    • Self Feed – Retrieve your feed based on given output allowed. It includes photos of person you are following. This type is strictly for “users” endpoint only.
    • Recent Media – Retrieve your latest uploads on Instagram based on given output allowed. This type is strictly for “users” endpoint only.
    • Likes – Retrieve photos you like/love. This type is strictly for “users” endpoint only.
  3. Size – Photo’s resolution. As defined by Instagram, it has 3 values:
    • Thumbnail – Thumbnail size of photo. Exactly 150 x 150.
    • Low Resolution – Exactly 306 x 306. This value is the default for Simply Instagram WordPress Plugin.
    • Standard Resolution – The largest image with highest quality. Dimension is 612 x 612.

Widget Settings:

There are 4 types of widget the user can choose from.

  1. Simply Instagram: User info – This widget will display your Instagram info.
    • Widget Title – indicates the widget title at the sidebar.
    • Profile Picture Width – determine the width of profile picture. Default: 150 pixels.
    • View at Instagram – option to open the photos of Latest Feed, Recent Feed, Recent Media and Liked Photo directly to Instagram instead of slideshow.
    • Include My Follower’s Thumbnail – option to show the profile thumbnail of your followers( people who follow your account ). Hovering your cursor on the thumbnail will show their name.
    • Followers Description – add description above thumbnails of your followers.
    • Picture Width – set the width of your follower’s thumbnail. Default: 50 pixels. Recommended 100 pixels.
    • Include Thumbnail User I’m Following – option to include the profile thumbnail of people you are following. Hovering your cursor on the thumbnail will show their name.
    • Description – add description above thumbnails you’re following.
    • Following Profile Width – set the width of those you are following thumbnail. Default: 50 pixels. Recommended 100 pixels.
    • Include My Latest Feed – option to display the latest Instagram photos of people you are following but NOT your own photo. Clicking on the thumbnails will open the full image in slideshow.
    • Description – add description above thumbnails of your latest feed.
    • Recent Feed Width – set the width of your Recent Feed. Recommended 100 pixels.
    • Include My Recent Media – option to display all your uploaded photo exclusively. It will not show photo of those you are following. Clicking on the thumbnails will open the full image in slideshow.
    • Description – add description above thumbnails of your recent media.
    • Recent Media Width – set the width of your recent photos. Recommended 100 pixels.
    • Include Photos I Liked – option to display the collection of all photos that you have liked on Instagram. Clicking on the thumbnails will open the full image in slideshow.
    • Description – add description above thumbnails of photos you had liked.
    • Liked Photo Width – set the width of your liked photos. Recommended 100 pixels.
    • Display Photo Caption – option to include photo description on prettyPhoto slideshow. prettyPhoto sometimes unresponsive on long photo description and this is the major drawback in previous version of Simply Instagram. Turn this feature off when it does.
  2. Simply Instagram: Currently Popular – This widget will display currently popular photos across Instagram server. This include the most liked and commented as of the moment and it will change from time to time depending on the popularity.
    • Widget Title – indicates the widget title at the sidebar.
    • Short Description – short introductory description of the widget in sidebar.
    • View at Instagram – option to open the currently popular photos  directly to Instagram instead of slideshow.
    • No. of Photos – set total photos to be shown in widget. Maximum of 20 only.
    • Display Photo Caption – option to include photo description on prettyPhoto slideshow. prettyPhoto sometimes unresponsive on long photo description and this is the major drawback in previous version of Simply Instagram. Turn this feature off when it does.
    • Theme – Choose what prettyPhoto slideshow theme suit for you.
    • Auto Play Slideshow – set to play slideshow at the start. Default: yes.
    • Picture Size – Set photo width size. Default: 100 pixels.
  3. Simply Instagram: Latest Feed – This widget will show your latest Instagram photo feeds from the people you are following but NOT from your own photos.
    • Widget Title – indicates the widget title at the sidebar.
    • Short Description – short introductory description of the widget in sidebar.
    • View at Instagram – option to open the your latest photo feed  directly to Instagram instead of slideshow.
    • No. of Photos – set total photos to be shown in widget. Maximum of 20 only.

    Thanks for the plugin, I like it’s simplicity and look.

    I have been using your widget for quite a while and it has worked perfectly showing a grid of images in the sidebar. Lately it is drawing the thumbnails as a list of single items rather than a grid. I have experimented with different sizes and that doesn’t help. I guess it’s a CSS problem interacting with my theme ?

    I previously used the widget but switched to the shortcake in the hope that it would solve the issue, but it still remains. This is the shortcode I’m using

    I have tried using Safari and Chrome with the same results.
